Our story

Hi! I’m Ellen - founder of Sand and Sparkle. While I was fortunate enough to enjoy an adventure-packed upbringing in beautiful rural Devon (where I am now once again settled with my young family), it was the subsequent years that I spent living in Australia that provided the inspiration behind Sand and Sparkle. During this time I was rarely present to share gifts with my UK-based family and friends in person, and would search high and low to seek out beautiful, unique and affordable gifts online that were thoughtful and personal and that could be mailed directly to them.

Environmental considerations were always front of mind, and while I would seek to gift a wide range of quality, unique and fun items I didn’t want my purchases to be contributing to the enormous challenges we face such as those associated with plastic waste and climate change. Supporting local, independent businesses producing unique, artisan products was the final goal as I truly believe the passion and love behind these creations shines through in both the quality of the item and the experience of the receiver.

And so Sand and Sparkle was born - driven by a desire to help make thoughtful and sustainable gifting easy while showcasing and championing local West Country businesses who share a commitment to environmental consciousness and sharing joy.

Inspired by this beautiful part of the world that we call home, the gift boxes aim to capture some of that beautiful coastal energy that we are lucky to have in abundance here ready to deliver straight to your loved ones.

We carefully select our suppliers and products and put a lot of thought into the curation and presentation of our gift boxes before putting them through the ultimate test - would we be delighted to give or receive this gift?
